What about dealing with the real cause of the accident in California? Having one person in the leading locomotive trapped with the responsibility of safely getting from point A to point B is nuts to say the least. The FRA should seriously look into this problem and not soley focus on improper cell phone use. Being an engineer myself, I value the extra set of eyes, ears, etc. that the conductor adds in safely completing a day's trip/shift.
