UP 4014

Trains Newswire says UP Steam announced this May (2019) as the first run for 4014.

Hate to see that announcement because announcing a completion date for a steam loco always puts a curse on the project.

Skookum was cursed when the promoters sold tickets for the first run while the loco was still unfinished. That made the steam Gods angry and they bent up the loco's linkage.

Before that was C&O 1309. Promoters sold tickets while it was still a bucket of parts. The steam Gods made sure the project descended into chaos after that. Then irate foamers vented on Trainorders for the next year about refunds.

So steam promoters would be wise to follow this advise from me, Paul Masson...

"We will sell no wine before it's time."
