Loco cab heat

Freezing temps in my area got me wondering about heat in diesel loco cabs.

In older power from the 1950's, like GP9's or F7's, how good was the heat? Were crews often cold?

How about news power from the 1960's and 70's, like GP-38's and SD40-2's. Decent heaters or not?

Are cab heaters always electric and fan driven?

Stay warm out there.
