Free car and gun sites do nothing for those who are interested in trains but not firearms or automobiles.

There are railroad related websites which charge nothing for access. However, obviously, Trainorders offers content not provided on other railroad websites and there are many railfans willing to pay for it.

Some posts on Trainorders (including a few of mine over the years) get removed. However, the vast majority of threads and posts are left up. Censorship happens but the censorship which happens is not a defining characteristic of Trainorders unless one only or mostly posts political or overly inflammatory commentary.
