I suspect the Chinese steam operation is somewhat akin to the Northwestern Steel in Illinois using Grand Trunk Western 0-8-0's well past the steam era.

They made some very good nails with strong steel and the points cut wide and blunted instead of chiseled sharp. Less likely to split and they did not bend easily.
