Yes, it was Doug's Locomotive and was painted for the Nevada Northern--that's why the diamond shape on the noses, where the NN logo was supposed to go. I designed the paint styling--but not the Colors!!! One reason for the bright colors along the frames was for safety visibility, especially at grade crossings. The plan was to add diagonal strips of reflective material on the frame edges.
Shame no one purchased the engine, although I wondered about the axle bearings; I helped Doug polish them out, and there were rust pits on the axles that I ground smooth with a dremel tool so there wouldn't be any sharp edges to damage the brasses. The idea must have worked as there were a lot of miles put on them after the polishing job. We figured with the edges smoothed out, the pits would serve as tiny oil reservoirs and not be an issue. There was a LOT of hand work done on those axles! I do think there was only one or two axles that had the problem.
I still remember seeing the locomotive painted after I came back from a vacation to Hawaii. They weren't the colors I'd envisioned and I always thought of it as a circus loco.
