As I've pointed out in a previous post on the subject -- Is the magical On-Board Computer going to: Load the trailer ? Secure the load ? Count the load ? Apply proper placards if necessary ? Strap down the flatbed load ? Tarp the flatbed load ? Fuel the tractor and any reefer units ? Replace the broken wiper blade or taillight ? Hook the tractor to the trailer or trailers, including air lines & light cord ? ( Up to five sets of connections for a set of triples ) CHAIN UP the tractor for winter driving ? Unload the product at the consignee ? Separate & segregate the various items onto specific pallets at the consignee's demand ? Operate a liftgate, handtruck, and / or pallet jack for ground drops and inside deliveries ? Count the freight and note any shortages and damages ?
The trucking companies that are advocating for driverless trucks, are mostly the " First Driving Job " companies; they usually Treat their Drivers like $#!t -- then Wonder Why they have $#!t for Drivers !!!
