A Model Train Show at the historic Santa Clara Depot is set for Saturday and Sunday, 1-2 November, 10 am to 5 pm each day. A donation of $5 per adult 18 and over will be collected at the entrance. Persons under 18 are free. The show features operating HO- and an N-scale model railroad displays, and a museum of railroad artifacts. In addition, the show includes a Company Store, which sells used model railroad equipment, books, videos and railroad memorabilia. The Santa Clara Tower, which guarded the former SP Newhall Yard and the junction of the Peninsula and Mulford lines, will be open between Noon and 4 pm, weather permitting. The show is hosted by the South Bay Historical Railroad Society, a non-profit organization.
The Santa Clara Depot is located adjacent to the busy Union Pacific and Caltrain rail lines, an excellent location for rail fans. UP freight trains of the Coast Line, Caltrain’s weekend commute trains, Amtrak’s Capitol Corridor trains and the southbound Coast Starlight are scheduled past the depot during the hours of the train show.
