Roger, I'll try to explain my observations more clearly. It's not that the diamond itself changed angles. The diamond remained intact at its original odd angles. Instead, train movement or something else caused the entire diamond to rotate so that it was no longer in-line with either the UP main or the BNSF branch. The fix made in 2006 was at least the second (possibly third) time I've seen them have to rebuild and straighten that crossing in the past ten years. When you drove over the X-ing and looked north on the UP, the diamond was clearly jogged out of alignment with the main on either side. All better now.
