The pole yard is still in business as McFarland Cascade. They make untrrated poles. I imagine most of their poles are sent to their Tacoma treating plant. Western Washington Railroad has pulled some loads out of there in recent years. I'm unsure of the frequency. The original area was supposed to become a modern lumber mill in the 70s, ala the former Green Mountain Mill near Toutle. The area is graded and even has the water catchment ponds to collect the anticipated mill run off. I guess the economics didn't work out. Seeing as how the Green Mountain Mill is gone and how Weyco seems to be turning into a forest owning and management company, I would assume the mill would either be gone by now or spun off.
