Thanks for the info on the Santa Fe 2-10-4's on the PRR.

I suspect that if those guys who first got their hands on the T-1's were still around they would give you a good argument. You'd think they would have had plenty of opportunity to figure out how to make the locomotive slip and and vice versa. Of course if they hated them from the outset and wanted to run K-4's instead maybe they wanted to wear them out.

The still pictures I have seen in the past of T-1's have shown them very dirty. Of course coal fired locomotives are dirtier than oil. But then even the pictures of the Santa Fe 2-10-4's in PRR service show them looking rather shabby and leaky. Methinks the Pennsy treated their stuff rough.
