I believe it was Alan Freed involved in that affair - he went big time, from Cleveland to NYC.

Radio in the fifties was a far cry from today. But the residual theme in payola is the bribe - in the case of Van Ness Ave. it is hush money.

They'll have to pay on Geary too; it could have been avoided by retainng curb loading, traffic light activation and conversion to trolley coach.

Grievance politicians do not do well generally in the nuts and bolts areas, like transit. Gavin is the poster boy of transport disinterest and/or ignorance. Someone please sell him a monorail or MuskTube or lots more 5'6".
