Try using Firefox with NoScript, Privacy Badger, and Behind The Overlay extensions. You can tune those 3 to block most nasties while still seeing someting (perhaps just plain text with ugly if any formatting). That combination with some work will let you see the text contnt in most web sites. OC Register, though, is one of the more difficult sites to read, and seldom carries content that isn't available elsewhere, somewhere.
