"With the state eyeing the possible extension of SMART service to Solano County to link up with the Capitol Corridor, SMART could potentially use this as a bargaining chip to get more funds for its Cloverdale and Healdsburg extensions, said Judy Arnold, a board member and Marin County supervisor."

We already have an Amtrak bus that provides this connection and it does not have to go to Novato first. And limited demonstrated demand and patronage.

These guys are counting on a marked increase in traffic with the extension to a terminus north of Sir Francis Drake. That remains to be seen. We will have to discover in the real world the travel time differences between SMART-ferry and GGT commute bus to the City. And do not forget the buses travel thru the city with many convenient stops. The ferry has only one stop.

I wonder how long it will take for these einsteins to broach seeking help from GGT. The latter has an independent source of funding and gravitas; MTC directs most all of its money to its boss, BART.
