* Santa Clara County's VTA (Valley Transportation Agency) was briefly called Santa Clara Area Transit, but someone checked the dictionary and put the kibosh on that acronym.

* North Lake Tahoe (Placer and El Dorado counties) offer the Tahoe Area Regional Transit bus system. (I wonder if they offer transfer privileges with the Seattle system?)

* Placer and El Dorado counties may have considered a joint Foothill Area Regional Transit operation. West Covina acted first, but using the simpler Foothill Transit name.
