Bob2 I lived in Altadena and we have some homeless who ride the busses up lake to camp out along the trails but lately the LASD has had the homeless outreach working to clean up the camps off the trails and the forest areas and try to find a place for them. As you said the NIMBY’s never want to provide any spaces or building for them if if it would help solve the issues for some. When I was the GM of the CCT we would clean up camps along our ROW between Stockton and Lodi because it was unsafe for them to be on the Railroad ROW, We always took the county homeless outreach with us but in the case for these folks around Stockton, most were drug users and had mental issues and would not accept any help, they would just cuss us and move on only to return in 10 or so days, it was a never ending problem that cost our small railroad over $50,000 each year to clean up and comply with the city and county ordnance’s on dumping as the camps became dumps.
I do ride the gold line between Pasadena and DTLA and do not see that many homeless and they usually want to be left alone and there is a police presence on the Gold line.
