Saluda Grade (N. Carolina)

Saluda grade is sort of the east coast's version of Tennessee Pass; railfans are always wondering if it will re-open.

Recent videos and photos show one or more washouts on the grade (plus plenty of weeds and trees). Now that Hurricane Dorian has swept through, maybe the washouts are worse.

If Norfolk Southern owns it now, what will happen if NS is acquired by a bigger railroad? Abandonment fodder?
