Yes it still operates but I don't know how often. Beyond Wabuska to Thorn, the line is now owned by the military as part of the weapons station at Hawthorne. They rebuilt the line with heavier rail and operate it themselves. I have never seen any photos of that operation so I am not sure if the military stops photography.

There was some talk about using parts of this line for movement of spent nuclear fuel but I gues that is a dead issue.
