I watched the Dash 80 Barrel Roll with my dad that day, who was an aerodynamics engineer for Boeing. And for the record every Boeing test plane from the Dash 80 on to the 777 has been Barrel Rolled during flight test as it is an escape manouver to be used when the Spoiler Upset Test manouver is screwed up so as to maintain the G load at close to or at 1G for flight safty.
