Fire information: [

Not surprised if there are delays. 5 N of Roxford, 405 N of 118, 210 N of 118, and several pieces of 118 are closed. Metrolink lines run through there (hence the AV line closures) and the fire is in the vicinity of Santa Susanna Pass (Ventura and Amtrak line). 14 left LA 4 hours & change late, probably due to fire activity - see
Amtrak Location Map - and San Joaquin bus service between Bakersfield and LA is cancelled until 5 reopens (
Amtrak Service Alerts).
Yes, it's a bad fire, and has resulted in one known fatality. With up to 70mph wind gusts last night, there was no way to stop it, only to get people out of the way. Hopefully the wind has died down a bit today so firefighters can get some containment on it (currently listed at 13% on the fire info page). weather.gov still predicting wind gusts to 25-30 in the
Sylmar area and a Red Flag Warning thru Saturday, which is bad for fire spread, but that's well below last night's wind; humidity in
Simi Valley is currently 1%.
Update: AV line now open - [
