Isn't Silverwood to Barstow mostly downhill? Not 100% of it, but most of it?
Seriously, Ed himself says 45 is Othe top speed for 4014. Don't be surprised if 844 gets the same speed limit applied to it.
And either locomotive will ALWAYS have at least one diesel behind it. More if they feel it necessary..
