Yreka Western


The little shortline that refused to die, The Yreka Western Railroad has been sold to a Michigan business.
In a letter sent to Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad, Railmark Holdings has purchased the Yreka Western from the Rocky Mountain Railroad & Mining Museum.
The Yreka Western was purchased by the Museum in 2000 and operated under the Colorado Central Railroad banner.
Railmark president & CEO B. Allen Brown has already made arrangements to pay off outstanding notes on the 2-8-2 Mikado locomotive and the depot.
Action on the transaction is still pending until approval from the Surface Transportation Board.
The final authorization from the STB is expected by the end of this month.
