Looks like a free floating bronze bearing rod. Engine appears to have been converted from a split adjustable bearing to a free floating bushing. The connecting rod may have come off of another locomotive during a shopping if the larger class were being scrapped. The SP did this to some of the S10 switchers the 1233 had main rods off of an SP Pacific, and was set up originally with a wedge type bearing.
