Since Hinkle Hump closed, the East Spokane (a.k.a Hinkle North, Spokane Hump) Yard has been
a busy terminal. Southbound manifests back into the yard two or more times daily. Trains
are usually over 100 cars long, saw one this summer that was 156 cars and had to be split between 3 1/2 tracks in the yard causing major traffic tie ups in the area. Two to six southbounds depart the yard daily as well. The bridge in question originally served the parking lot of the Playfair Race Track (horse racing) and the area has been redeveloped into
an industrial park. This street gets busy when UP trains have the other streets in the area
blocked. Flashing warning sensors are supposed to protect the bridge. Maybe this bridge will get it's own website some day.
