Extreme rains from a meteorological phenomenon termed "episode mediterraneen" removed a km of roadbed on an important route. At least 10 days to rebuild the the berm and ballast. Naturally buses are needed as a stopgap but management has only been able to find 8 in a rush. Takes a lot of buses to equal the capacity of a train.

So the discussion of bus issues does have a place on a train site; after all what is a SMART doodlebug but a very expensive, very heavy, semi-armored diesel bus on rails? Not even a hybrid, aka diesel-electric, but a retro straight diesel-mechanical.
