I found the locomotive on display just south of Florence...Alco-Cooke standard gauge 2-4-0T, rebuilt from an 0-4-0T, originally from the Marble Cliff Quarries in Ohio. Apparently it landed in Oregon in 1983, first in Milwaukie, the Hillsboro, then landed in Florence at some point. No connection to the Dunes Pacific, which was a 28-1/2" gauge operation that had been gone for at least a decade before this engine arrived on the coast. The Dunes Pacific equipment ended up on a circle of track at Heidi's Swiss Village in Boring, Oregon, for a while before going to a private collection near Eugene.
