According to a Truckee Meadows Fire Protection battalion chief, two people were transported to a hospital with minor injuries and one person was treated at the scene.
A statement from Amtrak read that a California Zephyr train was on its way from Chicago to Emeryville and that there were no injuries to the 78 passengers on board who are now being connected to a bus service to get to their destinations.
Preliminary investigation, the train was not able to stop before it hit the truck.
It does not appear the guard rails were down.
The train will be heading back to Reno sometime today and Amtrak is investigating.
News 4 has reached out to Amtrak for comment.
