Just looked at the Amtrak Status Map (transitdocs.com), and Amtrak is looking very strange.
Today's the 8th. Precisely one train, near DC on the NE Corridor, shows as having originated today.
All long-distance trains between Chicago and the W Coast or vice versa that originated on the 7th (some apparently didn't run at all) are operating way late with a 10xx or 11xx train number. The Sunset for some reason is operating normally, though EB is 1:09 late at Sanderson TX and "unknown" for Del Rio so things might be happening with it as well.
At just before 2200, there should still be a few Cal-Amtrak and Cascades trains enroute. None show up.
Has Amtrak decided to simply shut down their entire system when trains of the 7th reach their terminals?
