A lot of SP's F7A units - primarily those that were assigned to the Roseville Freight Pool - had their original pilot replaced with pilot plows over the years, starting in 1952 (perhaps earlier), and many of the units that received them stayed in "Black Widow" paint until retirement.

As trivia, 6378 was the second unit to be repainted scarlet and gray (6002 was the first).
