Both are taken on the SL&RG in Alamosa. One in 2007 and one in 2008. The SP1744 is completely torn down for boiler rebuilding and there is no inside firebox as of Sept 2008. The next day after the picture of number 18 was taken it suffered a galled driver bearing and was feverishly being attended to by all hands. We had to leave for Denver that morning so I don't know if it was running for the Sunday run.
