FWIW: Midland, MI (basically a company town)
This is the headquarters for Dow and where they where founded in 1897 when Herbert Henry Dow drilled a brine well and started making chemicals. Several retention ponds have been breached by the river, but the main facilities have shutdown w/o damage. Much DDT and other pollutants likely have been released that were in riverbanks and sediment. Major superfund site. They still ship out chemicals, but hasn't been called the bomb train in years. No different than most hazmat and safer than via truck.
