Oddly enough, I actually ran for the BART board. I didn't make it and the guy who won cheated by using a non-profit permit to mail out 100,000 mailers. Now the post office isn't dumb so, while saying it might have been an honest mistake, they still wanted their money. He paid in installments by padding his BART expense account. He got caught, but the board didn't want any scandal, and he was allowed to quietly resign. Not long after he dropped dead of a massive heart attack.
