"We hope people follow these new requirements as we don't have room in our jail for people who won't do the right thing and wear their masks." Spokane's mayor Woodward told KREM news Wednesday morning. Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has ordered people in Washington State to wear
face masks anywhere in public at all times starting Friday. Indoors always and outdoors if 6-feet of social distancing can't be maintained at all times. Including on planes, trains and automobiles (if occupants do not share a household). Order is legally binding and in effect until a vaccine or a cure is found. This order is the result of an increase in Covid cases with a huge spike in cases in the Yakima area. Initially the order was only going to cover Yakima County but Inslee decided yesterday a state wide order was needed. Inslee emphasized that this is a legally binding order that will be enforced. No data was provided as to whether the influx of new cases is related to the annual arrival of migrant workers in the
Columbia Basin area, recreational travel to Yakima from the Seattle area or some other source.
