Word on the street is that a number of their operations are marginally viable, at best. Their newest acquisition, the St. Paul and Pacific Northwest Railroad in Washington, is rumored to be their cash cow, at least at the present. The owner, Dave Fellon, is a railfan, but apparently either doesn't manage the company's money very wisely, or hasn't made very many wise choices in whom him hires to manage the money, hence their past financial difficulties which they are now trying to get out from under. As mentioned previously, word is that the Watsonville and Clackamas operations are the first to be unloaded.
