Denver's light rail system has a connection to the national rail network. Their Unimog (I presume they still have it) hi-rail truck has both transit coupler and a knuckle coupler. So, regular railroad flat cars can be brought into the shop area. Rail vehicles can be unloaded via a ramp; heavy machinery can be lifted off the flatcars with a crane.
