I question your comment that the DRGW wasn't fond of the flop over switches. The first time I saw one in action was in the mid-90's in front of the Colorado Springs station. I was watching a GP30 doing switching and saw it approaching a switch that wasn't lined for it. I thought they were going to damage the switch until I saw the throw flip over as the locomotive hit the points.
