Since fire danger is so high right now and the limited distance they can travel also light load restrictions with covid it probably isn't financially feasible to run steam right now.
That is just a guess though. I am not part of that railroad.

Last I heard the other tunnel was still not passable but that might be old news.

I am not sure if they took more fire damage on the Willits end from the fire last month or not. I haven't talked to anyone up there recently.
