As objectionable as Trump is--both in government and his business dealings--the man has played this country's system like a fiddle. Stupid in many ways, yes, but apparently quite intelligent in others.

I'm personally much more disturbed by a lot of his followers. Of course we'll always be blessed with a certain sized population of tin hatters, but many of his supporters are old enough to recall what the USSR's KGB and Comrade Putin truly represent.

One of my brothers-in-law retired from the Army as a 1st Sgt in the mid-80s and spent multiple tours with the armored cav on the East German and Czech frontiers. Even though he spent years effectively looking down the barrels of Soviet armored divisions (while President Bonespurs got multiple draft deferments), "Top" thinks Trump is somewhat akin to the Second Coming and refuses to acknowledge his deference to Putin (or any other "shortcoming").

How do we even begin to deal with such willful ignorance? It truly is a case of "none so blind as those who will not see", but the stakes are actually pretty darn high...
