The debris can be what get you. Get a pile of logs, ice or general junk plugged up somewhere and things can rise pretty fast. Where I used to live, all the hobby farm people would dump their branches and twigs along the river and then when the river rose it plugged up the nearest railroad bridge and massive flooding that otherwise wouldn't have happened.
