About UPY 138

The caption with tonight's photo reads, "Union Pacific Yard B30-7 No. 138 rests 'long hood forward' at downtown Phoenix' Harrison Street Yard in late December 2008. This unit is now accompanied in multiple dead-lines throughout metro Phoenix where Union Pacific is storing hundreds of locomotives due to the slowing economy."

Just for the sake of clarity, UPY 138 is no longer a locomotive. Rather, it's what UP terms a "CCRCL" and has been stripped of its engine, traction motors, and other locomotivey things, and has remote control transmitter equipment installed. M.U. it with any non-RC-equipped locomotive, and you get an instant RCL.
