No thanks, I pretty much gave up rail photography years ago.

Motivator #1: spending too much time on the camera versus enjoying the "show". Besides, nowadays my images would pale in comparison to some of the free images available online.

Motivator #2: tired of dealing with other photographers/videographers. Far too many railfans with cameras feel entitled to their "perfect" image--regardless of anyone else nearby. My own anecdotal observations suggest the sense of rail photographer entitlement increases exponentially with the cost of the camera.

Funny but I rarely even take a scanner these days. I just keep an eye on the signals at my favorite spots and trust to luck. The rest of the day is spent enjoying nature and wildlife, hiking, reading, etc.
