Very good point indeed.
The losses to our cultural and social institutions and organizations, like museums, air shows, train meet, concerts, plays, lectures (the JPL Von Karmen lectures have been able to go on-line), and the like is one of the most under-reported stories of the Coved disaster. Many of these will likely fail and close forever, as financial support from and for these institutions has also been lost, and need support.
Support of these cultural, social and heritage events, organizations, and institutions, both financial and moral, and preparation of post Covid recovery plans are vital. Planning and support, even for things like Winterrail, to begin the real "healing process" from the impacts of Covid on our cultural institutions, is starting again, and that is good. We will all need to support these efforts if we want some of these to survive and thrive again. These events and institutions are a larger part of our overall tourism and culture economy than many folks realize. And, these things are a large part of what makes our lives interesting and enjoyable.
Have all of you renewed your museum and organization memberships for this year? Let's make that a part of our new years resolution for a better 2021...
