No way! If it's movable without a slow order Amtrak is keeping it in service WITH AMTRAK. They don't have enough equipment to cover regular service, let alone giving usable semi-modern stuff to a private operation. Probably exactly as first described - deadhead move to some other point where it's needed, or to where it can be better repaired than wherever it was before.
