Earth calling: with the MKT merger, UP got the southern part of the RI Spine Line in the late 1980s. With the C&NW merger in 1995 UP fot the northern end of the Spine Line and all of the IA trackage.

The Rock wasn't even liquidated until late 1980, so no, 1979 had nothing to do with the Rock.
