On the North side of Lancaster, right across the street from where Porter #717 is located, the City of Lancaster built a solar steam generating plant. Don't recall out of how many millions of dollars it cost the taxpayers but after a few years, they tore it down; it never went into operation. I don't think anyone in the city of Lancaster even knew it had ever existed.
