I do not know when exactly it was actually abandoned, but coal went to WSU, UofW, the prisons in Walla Walla and Monroe. For a long time there was a law that said only Washington State coal was to be burned in state facilities. I can assume that Olympia was also on that list at one time. I only knew for sure of those I mentioned. I seem to remember coal coming out as late as the either late 50S or early 60S heading to the above mentioned facilities.
On the time line, I am open to corrections.
