The unit grain train was likely comming from or going to Ivory (between Reedley and Dinuba). There is a semi regular move that originates in canada some where, is handed off to the BNSF, who in turn hands it off to UP in Portland. UP runs it down to Fresno where it's handed off to the SJVR, who then run it to Ivory. When I lived in Redding (last year) this train seemed to run once per week or oncer every two weeks. This train can have a very interesting mix of power.

I'm not sure what normal SJVR ops look like on this streatch of track now days.
