The turbo train was a joke. I got to see it go through Colton on this same tour, and thought the same thing even back then in my misspent youth... They also apparently had a reputation as junk to maintain, hence a relatively short life span. These were another failed attempt to beat "swords into ploughshares" by defense contractors, like the Boeing Vertol cars....


I've been on a few cab rides on other demonstrator equipment, like the Danish sets of DMU equipment that toured CA and the US, back in the early 90's, when Neil Peterson was trying to get CA to buy the Coastline, that were really excellent well designed state of the art rail cars.
