The UP units got all new everything, including engines, generators, tractiom motors, dash 2 cabinets, all new wiring new control stands, air conditioners, etc.
Also, they have high'speed gearing.
With over 3,800 freight locomotives in storage, I'm sure it"s just a matter of days until they have these out pulling freight, as some other dork suggested.
I have no idea what other locomotives have or don't have and don't care. I just know that NS owned theirs, and if they wanted to get rid of them, they could and they did.
