Martinez Ca observation

I was walking in the Marina this morning when a westbound stack train came over the bridge and into Martinez. As it passed the station I noticed the rear of the train was still on the bridge which is kind of unusual. I watched it go through Ozol and when the head end reached the turn before Port Costa the rear of the train was still back at the east end of the Ozol yard. I did a Google Earth check and it was roughly 21/2 miles of Stack Train. I'm in the area somewhat frequently but don't recall ever seeing this long of a train. Is this unusual or the new way of doing things.
